RESEARCH FELLOW
ELECTRONIC AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
(3 years fixed term, £28,983 - £35,646)
The Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering has an opening for a suitably qualified candidate (must possess a relevant PhD qualification) to participate in our ongoing research into the mechanics of insect auditory systems. This project is based in the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering and the successful candidate will work closely with our existing research team to understand the operation of the tympanal hearing organs found in many insect species. The insect auditory work within the Centre is multidisciplinary, involving engineers, biologists and physicists.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Biology, Physics, Electronic/Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a background preferably related directly to biological auditory systems and have demonstrable experience of microscopy techniques (for biology), for example Atomic Force Microscopy.
Announcement date: 11 February 2010
Closing date: 12 March 2010
