[Spm] expected student travel awards for Symposium "Scanning Probe Microscopy―Frontiers in NanoBio Science"

Dear SPMers,

This is a reminder about very close deadline (November 2 till midnight) for forthcoming Symposium U "Scanning Probe Microscopy―Frontiers in NanoBio Science" which will be held in the frames of 2010 MRS Spring meeting at Moscone West Convention Center, San Francisco, CA, during April 5-9, 2010.

Please note, we expect several student travel awards SPECIFIC to this Symposium only.
The awards will include registration, travel, lodging, meal per deem expenses. 

To apply, the student-applicant should be a co-author of a presentation and the presenter. 
IT MEANS THAT THE SHE/HE SHOULD BE ON THE LIST OF CO-AUTHORS OF THE SUBMITTED ABSTRACTS. 
The other required documents (described below)can be submitted later.

In addition, the student should have submitted:
1. A letter of recommendation by the student's advisor. 
2. A letter with a short description of the expected benefits of attending the symposium (just one paragraph is enough).

The applications should be submitted electronically to zleonenk at scimail.uwaterloo.ca (Attn.: Prof. Zoya Leonenko). Special attention will be given to the students from underrepresented groups (this information can be optionally provided by the student's advisor). 

All student presentations of the symposium will participate in a competition for the best student presentation awards. The awards will be in three categories: the most creative, the best presented (both oral presentation skills and graphical design of the slides), and the best overall presentation.
