Dear SPMers,
Today is the abstract dead-line for the North American Thermal
Analysis Society (NATAS) meeting, which will be held in Lubbock, TX
from Sep. 20 through Sep. 23, 2009 (http://www.natasinfo.org/).
Limited number of travel grants is available for students as well as
for faculties. If you need one, please submit your abstract at NATAS
web-site and write me at 4xn at ornl.gov.
Scanning Probe Microscopy is a perfect technique for measuring
materials’ properties with high resolution. The main focus of this
symposium is the following:
- Measurements of the materials’ properties with high resolution while
material undergoes phase transition, such as glass transition,
melting, ferroelectric phase transition, etc.
- Understanding of the heat transport at nanoscale (analytical and
numerical modeling).
- Temperature-assisted techniques, for chemical imaging with high
resolution (tip-enhanced Raman microscopy, combinations of AFM with
IR, mass spectrometry, etc).
SPM has an opportunity to advance local thermal analysis and bring it
to the next level. I hope to see a lot of SPM works at this symposium.
Please submit your abstract on the following web-page:
http://www.natasinfo.org/Natas2009(web)1.html .
Sincerely,
Maxim Nikiforov.
