Postdoctoral Opportunity in Experimental Nanobiophysics

A postdoctoral position is available in the Dutcher group at the
University of Guelph, Canada to study the nanomechanical properties of
live bacterial cells under different environmental conditions and their
response to novel antimicrobial compounds. Extensive experience in
atomic force microscopy (AFM) under ambient and fluid conditions, and a
strong record of publication in peer-reviewed literature attesting to
these abilities, is required. A Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry or a related
discipline, awarded in the last five years, is necessary. Additional
responsibilities will include training and supervision of students, and
preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication.

This project is part of a large multidisciplinary project within the
Advanced Foods and Materials Network (AFMnet), a national Network of
Centres of Excellence, led by Professor John Dutcher. The research team
includes world-leading microbiologists, physicists, chemists,
mathematicians and engineers from across Canada. A description of our
extensive experimental facilities for studying large molecules at
surfaces can be found at: http://www.physics.uoguelph.ca/psi/equipment.shtml

The University of Guelph is a research-intensive university with a
student body population of 18,000 students located in Guelph, Ontario.
The City of Guelph has a college town atmosphere with the big city
(Toronto) only 80 km away. Guelph is in the heart of the largest
concentration of universities and industry in Canada, with easy access
to the Toronto International airport (60 km away).

Applications should be addressed to:
