Hello,

There are many possibility to avoid "smears" (or "scars").
You could increase Integral and proportional gain to compel the tip to follow the surface.
If it don't suffice to deleted those artefacts, you could slow down the scan speed.

An other way depends of which scan mode you use (contact or tapping?).
Particules on a surface are like hard feature of the topography. You should adjust force/amplitude setpoint of your tip in order to be able to quickly follow large relief variation.
