A postdoctoral position in single molecule biophysics is available in the
Messersmith group at Northwestern University. The overall goals of the
research are to elucidate the molecular details of mussel adhesive protein
adhesion (for example, see PNAS 2006, 103, 12999). We seek self-motivated
individuals interested in a stimulating and interdisciplinary research
environment where fundamental biophysics experiments inform the development
of biologically inspired materials. For more information on the group
please visit our website
<http://biomaterials.bme.northwestern.edu/index.asp>http://biomaterials.bme.northwestern.edu/index.asp.
Experience in designing, conducting and interpreting single molecule
pulling experiments is required. Candidates with experience in AFM single
molecule pulling experiments, cantilever tip modification, and peptide or
polymer chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. The position is
available immediately and will remain open until filled.
To apply, please send a CV, statement of research accomplishments and
future interests, and the names of three referees to philm at northwestern.edu.
