Let me announce for the AFM community the workshop on

Nanomechanical Cantilever Sensors, May 19 - 21, 2008 in Mainz, Germany.
http://www.mpip-mainz.mpg.de/symposium/nmc2008/

The International Workshop on Nanomechanical Sensors focuses on new
developments, investigations and applications of cantilever-based
sensors, cantilever methodology and cantilever systems engineering. It
aims at bringing together companies and academia to present their latest
results in a lively and personal atmosphere. This workshop is a follow
up of workshops held in Madrid (2004), Knoxville (2005), Copenhagen
(2006) and Montréal (2007).

Topics:

    * Detection of chemicals and gases
    *  Applications in biotechnology
    * Theoretical understanding of the nanomechanical response
    * Fabrication of cantilevers and cantilever arrays for
nanomechanical sensors
    * Integration of nanomechanical sensors (microfluidics, actuators,
sensors systems, µ-TAS, CMOS)
    *  Functionalization concepts and technology
    *  MEMS/NEMS technology for sensors

You are kindly invited to submit abstracts for poster and oral
contributions.

Confirmed invited speakers are:
Vinayak P. Dravid (Northwestern University, USA)
Christoph Gerber (University of Basel, Switzerland)
Wilhelm Huck (University of Cambridge, United Kingdom)
William P. King (University of Illinois, USA)
Xinxin Li (Chinese Academy of Sciences, China)
Greg Nordin (Brigham Young University Utha, USA)
Takahito Ono (Tohoku University, Japan)
Alvaro San Paulo (Centro Nacional de Microelec., Spain)
Hans-Jürgen Butt (MPI for Polymer Research, Germany)

Important deadlines:
Abstract deadline:        April 11th, 2008
