REMINDER: submission deadline October 28, 2007

Dear colleagues

Papers are being solicited for the symposium on "Surface Chemical Aspects of Tribology" to be held at the American Chemical Society National Meeting in New Orleans, April 6-10, 2008.

Invited speakers at the symposium include:

M. Salmeron (Lawrence berkely Labs)
H. Zahouani (Ecole Central Lyon, France)
P. Messersmith (Northwestern Univ.)
N. Spencer (ETH, Switzerland)
U. Landman (Georgia Institute Technology)
J. Klein (University of Oxford / Weizmann Institute)
S. Perry (University of Florida)
M. Muser (University Western Ontario, Canada)

The theme of the symposium will be an understanding of the chemical aspects of interfaces in dynamic contact.

Papers are solicited that cover a variety of topics including: mechanical properties of interfaces, chemical interactions, nanoscale tribology, measurement and simulation. In addition to covering technological aspects of tribology the organizers would like the symposium to include papers on the tribochemistry of natural biological systems and biotribological interfaces; examples might include ocular, cartilage, dental, natural fibers, wool, hair and skin friction (textile, dermatology or cosmetic industries). The major areas of programming will be: Mechanics, Lubrication, Nanotribology, Simulation, and Biotribology.

Your title and abstract must be submitted through the American Chemical Society Web site, before the official submission deadline of October 28, 2007.
