Dear Debby and Nico.
There is an alternative way to convert DI file 
into ASCII ones. WSxM reads DI files and then 
once the files are in WSxM format there in as 
option in the software to save them as ASCII. In 
addition you may be lucky and find the data 
process that you want carry out already 
implemented in this software. WSxM is a totally 
freeware application for SPM data process that 
can be download at www.nanotec.es. You will 
probably have better chances to read your 
particular file format downloading the last develop version of WSM.
