SPMers -

Our lab has microscopes from several manufacturers: Omicron, DI, and 
Oxford (maybe a PicoPlus also) and we'd like to get one image processing 
package to rule them all. We currently use the free WSxM code in 
addition to the native packages; while it's useful, it's not as 
full-featured as we'd like. The other extreme we've considered would be 
for us to use Matlab routines, which provide infinite flexibility, but 
are prohibitively expensive, requiring a license for every student/staff 
  computer.

What multiformat image analysis programs can you recommend?
